What a side event can be
Panel or dialogue
A focused discussion on a policy question, with diverse perspectives on stage.
Workshop
A practical, interactive session for sharing tools, methods and lessons.
Launch or briefing
A report, dataset, coalition or programme presented to decision-makers.
Exhibition or arts
Photography, storytelling and arts-based work on mental health and recovery.
What we look for
Selection criteria
- People with lived experience are involved in planning and delivery.
- Evidence and experience from low- and middle-income countries, especially across Africa.
- A clear link to the summit theme and its three commitments.
- Accessible to all participants, and free of commercial promotion.
- A plan for what happens next: commitments, partnerships or follow-up.
How to apply
Three steps

Register your interest
Choose “Host a side event” in the registration form and outline your idea, partners and preferred format.

Submit a full proposal
When submissions open, the secretariat will invite you to send a short proposal with objectives, speakers and logistics.
- 3
Confirmation
Selected events are confirmed as the programme is finalised, with venue and scheduling support.
Timelines are indicative and will be confirmed by the summit secretariat.
